On October 4, the EVS class of I BA English organised a poster exhibition on the theme Environmental Awareness in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES), WCC, at Copper Pod Block. The students brought out their creativity and understanding of environmental issues through charts which they displayed and explained during the exhibition.

Arrangements for the event began around 10 am, with the enthusiastic first years pinning up more than 60 charts to saris that were tied across the length and breadth of the hall. The exhibition was open to staff and students from 11.30 am and drew a steady stream of visitors, who enjoyed looking at the insightful posters, listening to explanations and playing games or answering quizzes.

This event gave students a broader perspective of the environment, bringing alive what they had studied in their EVS classes. The students talked about a wide range of topics such as ecosystems, value of biodiversity, marine life, extinct animals, waste segregation, RWH, disaster management, acid rain, eco-tourism, pollution, energy sources, wildlife, eutrophication, and various other topics pertaining to the environment. They conducted games, quizzes, and presentations that were insightful and informative.

“I’m very happy that this initiative was taken by the teachers. My classmates have put a lot of effort into making these posters and presenting their thoughts on the topics selected.” - Ann Sara Thomas, I BA English.

The exhibition concluded at 1:20 pm, after which the prize distribution and event feedback took place. Ms. Sweetlyn Moses, Head of the English Department, visited the exhibition and shared her thoughts on the presentations made. Dr C Anupama, Dean of CES, announced the winners of the top three presentations who received prizes from Ms Moses. Special Mention was made of nine students for their noteworthy presentations. The students’ active participation made the exhibition a great success.
