The Red Ribbon Club of NSS with the Youth Red Cross led a blood donation drive on 11th August at WCC. A number of students rolled up their sleeves to donate blood for a good cause.
āIt feels good to have these kinds of initiatives taken in our college to help save lives, and to be a part of it makes me feel proud.ā - Dr. A Ranjani, NSS Programme Officer.
The campaign began at 9:00 a.m. at the Assembly Hall in Science Block with donors from different departments and shifts coming together to save lives. There were checks done before one was allowed to donate blood, and only if they cleared those checks, were they permitted to donate.

Student Voices:
āI came last time as well to donate blood but they said I had low BP but today I was able to donate blood, so I feel proud as well as happy that I did something good.ā - Thanga Lakshmi L, III English.

Highlights:
ā Students were given refreshments
ā Students were taken care of by the doctors and the nurses there
ā Certificates were awarded to all the donors
āPeople die without sufficient blood. Seeing these many students turn up to donate blood makes me feel proud and Iām happy that these will help to save many peopleās lives in future.ā - A nurse at the camp.
The drive concluded by 4:00 p.m. marking the end of the blood donation drive in WCC this semester.
Apart from this drive, NSS volunteers have been actively involved in events such as rallies, tree planting drives, Yoga Day, Cancer Outreach, First Aid Awareness, and so on.
