15th August was a day filled with pride as our college united to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India. Students, faculty, and cadets all arrived on campus with great enthusiasm to mark this significant event. The occasion was honoured by our Chief Guest, Dr. Sheila John, Head and Associate Professor, Home Science (PG). The festivities were not just a commemoration of our freedom fighters' sacrifices but also a reminder of our responsibility to maintain the values of freedom and harmony.

The programme opened with a prayer, creating a sober and dignified atmosphere. This was followed by a warm welcome speech and the formal introduction of the Chief Guest. Next Dr Sheila John hoisted the National Flag while the National Anthem rang out across the campus, awakening emotions of pride and gratitude in all those gathered there. The highlight of the morning was a special NCC Rank Ceremony, in which cadets were awarded new ranks, ushering them into increased responsibility and leadership. The cultural events that followed were a welcome dance, folk dance, patriotic songs, reflective skits, and motivational speeches which reiterated the richness and diversity of our country and celebrated the spirit of independence.

Delivering her speech at the gathering, Dr. Sheila John stated, "Independence is not a gift that we can take for granted. It is a responsibility that we must shoulder with courage, unity, and purpose. As students and young leaders, you are the torchbearers of tomorrow. Lead with honesty, discipline, and compassion, and the country will emulate your

lead." Her speech made a lasting impression

on every listener, urging us to live by the ideals of our freedom fighters.

The programme ended with a warm vote of thanks and the presentation of a memento to the Chief Guest. The events of the day left everyone with a renewed sense of pride, responsibility, and hope.
