🔥NCC ignites the flame of change at WCC.

🗓 Chennai | 2nd July, 2025: WCC NCC COY proudly hosted "Stree Shakti", a thought-provoking and empowering event at Women's Christian College (WCC), Chennai. Conducted by Ms. Jelin Rebekah, Faculty of the Department of Psychology, the session was designed to empower women and raise awareness about the multifaceted issues they confront in society.
🚺With more than 40 cadets present, the activity was characterized by active participation and high energy. There were diverse activities to make the session engaging, such as skits showcasing routine gender biases, extempore talks on societal expectations, and open-mic presentations of personal empowerment experiences. These activities not only enabled cadets to share their opinions but also provided a conducive atmosphere for learning and development.
🎓Ms. Jelin Rebekah charmed the audience with her reflective comments. "Women's empowerment starts with self-knowledge and education," she observed. She also highlighted the importance of making discussions about mental health a common thing and went on to say, "Empowerment is not dominance, but dignity and equal opportunity."
💪🏼The cadets too were moved, and expressed the effect of the event on them. "It gave me the courage to speak up," stated Cpl. Zebiah Y, III BA English. For many, the event served as a turning point in how they viewed their role in creating a more equitable society.
👑In the future, the WCC NCC COY has planned multiple initiatives to see the momentum continue. These include peer-based workshops, campus awareness drives in colleges, and interaction with NGOs dedicated to women's rights. Through empowerment integrated into daily action, the COY continues to work towards making Stree Shakti not only an event but a sustained movement.
