Senators and Club Heads Engage in Reflective Workshop.

28 June: The Student Senate Retreat 2025 brought together senators and club coordinators of WCC for an inspiring and reflective experience under the banner, Advanced Leadership Workshop. The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Bamford Hall, was organised by Sishya Group, a value-based Christian ministry that works with students and young professionals. It was hosted in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Life, WCC.

Founded by Mr. Ashok Vedanayagam, who also served as one of the keynote speakers, Sishya is committed to cultivating ethical and spiritually grounded leadership. Participants from diverse clubs such as NCC, NSS, Quiz Club and Photography Club came together for a workshop that blended learning with deep introspection.

The programme featured talks, group discussions, reflective activities and prayers. Students were divided into small groups, each facilitated by two speakers from Sishya, creating space for honest conversations.

“I learned how a leader should be guided and how she should guide others. Now I am more than excited to start planning for my club this year!”

- Priscilla Elizabeth Vincent, President of Eco Club.

The retreat made a lasting impact, prompting participants to reimagine their roles as leaders. Many left with renewed clarity, practical insights and a deeper sense of purpose.

Faculty coordinator Dr. Esther Arul Mary, who opened the session with a prayer and welcome address, remarked that leadership is “as much about reflection, as it is about action.”

The success of the retreat has energised WCC’s vibrant community of student leaders, helping them step into the new academic year with commitment, vision and a stronger sense of calling.
